"Transformation" is a word often used as one of the most profound benefits of a yoga practice. I'm not entirely comfortable with the word, however, because it implies becoming something else: that is, to change form. The gift of a yoga practice is not becoming something new and better. It is not self-improvement. Rather it is a process of shedding that which we are not, so that we can be more authentically who we are. You, only more so.
Dolly Parton said, "Find out who you truly are, and then do it on purpose!" That is the gift of yoga, and it is available to us all. The link is to an article from the NY Post: How yoga changed the life of a teen living in the projects.
